Forty-five states, the District of Columbia, four territories, and the Department of Defense Education Activity have adopted the Common Core State Standards Initiative to raise standards for learning in mathematics and English language arts. How does such transformative change in American schools take place? How do we accelerate learning of our students, especially those in middle and high schools? Michelle Cahill will discuss strategies toward transformative changes, including developing and implementing Common Core Standards, adopting schools designs and buildings that maximize student learning, and creating stronger teachers, particularly in STEM.
